How do I check which quartile a journal is in?

What is an international ranking?

   There are several companies and organizations who rank higher education institutions. Each ranking uses several indicators including indicators based on publications.
   Information on the publications comes from a large commercial database.  
   Highly cited articles in the database influence the university’s standing in the rankings as well.

Academic Ranking of World Universities

Academic Ranking of World Universities: Shanghai Ranking
Uses six indicators to rank world universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medal in mathematics, number of highly cited researchers selected by Clarivate Analytics, number of articles published in Nature and Science, number of highly cited papers indexed in Science Citation Index - Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index, and per capita performance of a university.

World University Rankings: Times Higher Education
Institutions are ranked by thirteen performance indicators in five areas: teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlook. Information on publications is based on the Scopus database.
