As of 2024, JCR have unified their subject category rankings for the evaluation of journal performance.

What is an international ranking?

   There are several companies and organizations who rank higher education institutions. Each ranking uses several indicators including indicators based on publications.
   Information on the publications comes from a large commercial database.
   Highly cited articles in the database influence the university’s standing in the rankings as well.

Major Rankings

	Academic Ranking of World Universities: Shanghai Ranking Uses six indicators to rank world universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medal in mathematics, number of highly cited researchers selected by Clarivate Analytics, number of articles published in Nature and Science, number of highly cited papers indexed in Science Citation Index - Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index, and per capita performance of a university. 	CWTS Leiden Ranking Stands for a multidimensional perspective on university performance and provides indicators of scientific impact, collaboration, open access publishing, and gender diversity.
