Opening an account on campus computers

Logging in to faculty computers for new students / Recovering a username / Changing a password / Extending an account's validity:

Click on the link at the bottom of the login screen: Create UserName and Password or Change Password

You will receive a screen in which you must enter:

ID number - 8 digits without a check digit. Add zeros at the beginning if the number is shorter than 8 digits.

The secret code that appears on the payment slip you received from the student administrator.

After verification, you will receive a username and must choose a personal password consisting of at least 8 characters and that meets the rules shown to you. From now on, your login to the university network on all campus computers and from home is via the username you received above and the password you chose.

Saving files on campus computers

The system supposedly allows temporary storage on drives C and D, but in the event of a power outage or after the computer is rebooted - files saved on C are deleted!! You can save files in several places:

.1 On the personal drive H: on which the computing department allocates 500 MB of space for each student. This space is private and cannot be read by another user. The space is accessible from all computers on campus. Your username and password protect the privacy of your files - do not give them to another user.

.2 Only temporarily - in the public area PUBLIC: V. The PUBLIC drive is intended for temporary storage (up to a week) of large files as well as for additional, temporary storage, if there is no space on the personal drive.

.3 On a key-on-disk or portable external disk

From home - you can pull the files from the personal drive H to your home computer. To download files, browse to the website: https://myfiles.huji.ac.il Log in to the website using a username and password as you generated using a personal code from the university payment register.

For account holders from previous years: There has been no change in the login method. You must log in with the username and password you registered with previously.
